Visiting Tepatitlan, Jalisco

I am finally back from my week-long vacation in México, and I am a little bit upset. It’s always nice to visit the motherland, walking around hearing the language. Experiencing the culture in full swing. It really is what I enjoy the most. But like any fairytale story, […]

Caffeine Confessions

Caffeine Confessions

I still remember the smell of coffee coming from my parent’s kitchen every morning as I woke up for school. It’s a vivid memory I have that keeps replaying in my head when I take the first sip of coffee. My mother laughing as my dad spills some of his tea on the floor grabbing her mug carefully so she doesn’t do the same thing. That’s probably why I love coffee so much, or maybe its the countless cup of Joe’s my mother gave me as I rushed out the door. Whatever it is, it always reminds me of home.

Now as my partner in crime and caffeine fanatic boyfriend shares the same addiction as me. We make sure to visit various coffee shops when we are together. Such as Tertulia Coffee located in Oakland, which has an amazing art gallery hosted by Sanchez Contemporary. I guess you can say I’ve handed him the torch to provide me with a cup of Joe every time I see him. But this time, I make sure to request soy with my coffee as I take baby steps towards my transition into veganism!

Culture Clash: Being a Mexican Vegetarian

Why I Became Vegetarian

Why I Became Vegetarian

It was a bright morning, the sun rays peeking out of my sister’s window begging me to wake up. While a rush of wind forced my strands of hair to move out of my face. Standing right next to the door was my sister holding her phone. Her face expression followed by her statement changed my life forever, “you have to see this it’s so sad”.
